Hello, don't hesitate to ask :) After 16.Bb5 Bd7 17.Bxd7, black has to take with his queen because knight f6 is pinned, 17...Qxd7, but now queen is not defending Nf6 and, 18.Bxf6 gxf6 ruins pawn structure around black king, which would be very dangerous. Hope this helps.

I am a beginner, so please pardon me for this...

If 16.Bb5, why should black respond with Rf8? I would think 16.Bb5,Bd7 would lead to a possible Bishop exchange...

[...] This is the game I played last weekend in a team event. Similar to “5th Deadly Chess Sin”, I will reproduce my thoughts that occurred during the clash. Note that I didn’t run the moves through the chess program, if you find any tactical flaws, please mention it in the comments. [...]

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Usually I spend long time thinking before actually making a post, and preparing this article helped me gain more objectivity for the last week game which I won.

Interesting and honest of you to highlight the "attitude" towards your opponent. I made this mistake once - just in a social game - chatting to others, making casual moves as if it was all so easy for me. Thinking about it later I realized how rude and offensive I'd been and how I'd felt when others had done this to me. I made a promise from then on to always play with respect for my opponent and respect for the game - whoever it was.

Interesting game
There were some really instructive moments both from chess and the human point of view. I really liked the fact that there were GM's comments.
Thanks, can't wait see more
